Tormented by a past he discovered had never existed, the hunter, Seth, had begun to suspect the unpalatable, unbelievable truth long before he came face to face with … himself, the rogue Cyborg, Simon—identical to him in every way but one—Simon had no soul. He hadn’t been born. Simon had been created in a lab just as his partner Cole had been.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did... This is a very luke warm 3 stars
it has a very interesting concept and with more world building (where more things are
explained like why does a woman need a "permit" to have a baby? Why do most all single
Women seem to prefer sex with a "pleasure droid" instead of a "real" man? and when it comings to
these pleasure droids getting women pregnant how did they know they'd done so? and with as many
women as they'd probably seen/ been with how did they know with ones to seek out? and did Clair just
kinda "luck out" with Drake or did all the cyborgs who had been thought to be "just" pleasure droids developed
feelings with the women they'd serviced?
what could have been a really layered and interesting story, was honestly rather shallow and vapid ,there was never any real
character development, very little world building with characters who spend more time more time in their head either jumping
to conclusions or trying to reason things out when usually just a short conversation with person in question would have sorted things
quickly... I guess I should have know what this book was gonna be like after reading The Forgotten: Discovery by Kaitlyn O'Connor
because even though that was a single Earth Woman crashing her space ship on a forgotten alien colony with nothing but men
(that might have been better with more work and development ) and saved myself the 7.50....like I said the women and the men in these
stories spend more time jumping to conclusions and sometimes each other than anything elsewhere the story should be or could be about the
interesting worlds and situations that bring them together it's instead mainly about the men developing some sorta insta love with the woman
the men never knowing what to do to "woo or court " ,everyone constantly jumping to conclusions a bout everything that's said or done, or not
said or done instead of just stopping and talking to each other ,and while the men claim to love the woman and can be extremely possessive
of her constantly fighting with each other over who she loves or who she loves more (honestly a lot of the time they spend more fighting over her
than for her) while Seth and Simon and Drake and Cole are ok...the relationship with Seth and Simon is a little fleshed out and Drake is hit and miss
(though after all their years together you'd think their relationship would be a little better and more interesting than it was) and poor Cole just seemed tacked on coz they had an extra space to fill, everything about their relationship felt forced and awkward even their one short sex scene)
like a say good/interesting concept but boring childish characters who spend more time either in their own heads jumping to the wrong conclusions
or fighting than anything else, feels rushed and is poorly developed and is sooo not worth $7.50 is you want a better sci-fi type romance try RIBUS 7
by Shae Mills, Chelan the heroine can be very annoying at times and I don't entirely get her deep abiding love for Korba her main interest unlike the
other two men she comes to love but in terms of character and world development it's everything this is not and it's even a little cheaper....
for me it's been one of those books I just don't want to save to read again later I want to kick the female in it to the curb and go live it myself ;)
only of course make much decisions about some of the men I love and a few other things... it was a book hang over for sure, one of those books you never want to end and picking your next book isn't fun coz you know at least for a while nothing will quite measure up ;)
also if you like having plenty of men to love try Here She Rules by Kat Hollinghead.. plenty of Yummy there and a great engaging story too :)

Cyberevolution V Illumination Volume 5 Kaitlyn O'Connor 9781481299756 Books Reviews

This is my favorite series by this author. I loved every book. I wish she was still writing more books in this series.
If you like sifi and cyborgs and a little romance thrown in, this is a good book. Anyone shy about a little erotic detail should maybe pass it by. I don't think its too bad though, if your an adult it shouldn't shock you. I have enjoyed the story line through all the books.
I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to anyone who loves stories about cyborgs and their mates. This book needed to be proof read as there were errors.
This is far in the future, where people drive hovercars in domed cities and paper is a thing only found in musems, water showers are illegal, replaced by the less pleasant particle showers. The people of this time have to get a permit to have a child, marriage is a thing of the distant past, replaced with limited signed contracts. But many just go to the brothels featuring beautiful male and female Cyborg sex droids.

But Cyborgs who were created and sold to the military and the brothels have evolved and now have awareness and are looking for answers, while the company that created them is trying to exterminate them all.

I could hardly put this book down, I was enjoying it so much. Great sci-fi adventure romance with hot Cyborg men you will fall in love with. The sex scenes in this book are one on one, but the heroine has more than one love interest, after all, the Cyborg men really out number the women.
Warning spoilers in this review

Overall, I find the Cyborg series a really solid read. I've read all of them except the 1st one which I don't think I'd care for. Illumination has more of a thriller/mystery aspect to it which I enjoyed and appreciated that the author was trying to keep the series going without going to the tried and true. Unfortunately the author does stick to her formula of 4 guys for the heroine, unplanned pregnancy, and way too much angst/cogitation on the heroine's part. Illumination could have been so much better, made more sense, if it was just Seth/Simon/Drake. The unplanned pregnancy made sense (even though I'm tired of this in the Cyborg series) if there had been just the one child, but the author seems to be determined to always reward the #1 mate with a child despite the logistics. I thought it made sense for the heroine to wonder who else her pleasure bot had impregnated but was disappointed that she didn't have that conversation with Drake - I too was curious as to how Drake felt about impregnating others besides the heroine (unless he can control it, but then that should have been explained).

If you decide to read this book, be sure to read "Cyborg Nation" first to have a better understanding of Illumination.
In this book you find out that Dr. Carol LaMotte is the one responsible for awakening the Cyborgs into becoming senitent beings and is killed, but she saves her daughter Claire by erasing all information about her and sending her away. Claire returns when she gets the news her mother is dead which puts her life in danger with Robotics, Inc. where her mother worked. Seth, Simon, and Cole are Cyborgs looking for Dr. LaMotte and find Claire instead. Robotics, Inc. has instituted a recall for the destruction of all Cyborgs which compounds their problems. Added to this mix is Drake, a sex droid that Claire has been using . Drake's first client after acheving awarness is Claire which seems to set her apart from his other clients because being with her was the first time he ever felt anything. He is looking for her when all hell breaks loose and the Cyborgs have to save themselves from destruction. Drake is my favorite character. How'd you like your sex toy that you've been using for years suddenly acheive awareness? As Claire puts it to Drake, "Who are you and what did you do with Drake?"This story is fast paced and full of action as the Cyborgs work to escape their destruction.
